The Communist state security followed his steps closely, and interpreted as subversive his interest in fashionable Western literary criticism of the time, suspecting him of planning a "structuralist coup". Professor Nedelchev discovered a whole surveillance operation on that, recorded in his "secret file" in the archive of the security services.
