Yuris Podnieks, 1990, 51 minutes

Yuris Podnieks (1950 - 1992) was a Latvian film director. He graduated from the Moscow VGIK film school in 1975 and worked at the Riga Film Studio.

As the Soviet Union was about to collapse, Podnieks filmed over 3 years his documentary "Hello, do you hear us?". It showed civil unrest in Uzbekistan, survivors of the earthquake in Armenia, striking workers in Yaroslavl and former residents returning to Chernobyl.
